Modi visa denial – Facts

September 2, 2008 by Narayana

I wanted to contribute to the discussion on Churumuri on visa denial to Modi.

First thing, visa denial happened in year 2005 under 212 (a) (2) (g) of Immigration and Nationality Act. As per the act the visa denial is final and will never be revoked. So why was Coalition against Genocide wanted to know if Modi is being visa again. Is it because someone did not read the act?

The above provision in the act was never applied to any individual before Modi became the first individual to get barred. Modi may seem as a lesser evil to his supporters who get ired by this fact that when dictators have made it to US why not Modi? Probably that is a moot question. Because this particular section in the act is applicable only to those who violated others religious freedom.

Section §212(a)(2)(G) of the INA, which was first enacted in 1998, has never been invoked against a public official prior to the decision to revoke Mr. Modi’s visa. It maintains that an individual is inadmissible to the United States if “while serving as a foreign government official, was responsible for or directly carried out, at any time, particularly severe violations of religious freedoms.” Violations of religious freedoms are defined by the International Religious Freedom Act, as any of the following acts committed on account of an individual’s religious belief or practice: “detention, interrogation, imposition of an onerous financial penalty, forced labor, forced mass resettlement, imprisonment, forced religious conversion, beating, torture, mutilation, rape, enslavement, murder and execution.

So Modis rejection can not be compared to a dictator getting visa. Further supporters may also take offense, that Modi did not do any of the act barred by International Religious Freedom Act as mentioned above. This too is moot question. Immigration officers are permitted to act on reasonable belief and can not spend too much of time on individual cases and generally err on the safer side. Those who have applied to US visa know this fact. There are so many individuals who should have got the visa but were denied because even the slight suspicion can go against the individual getting the visa. Getting a visa when you have all the correct documents is a chance outcome. Not getting a visa in no way can be construed as proclamation of guilt because consulate does not do hearing!!! In fact only way forward for Modi was requesting a waiver which can be granted by department of state. But to do that Modi has to admit the guilt and since he doesnot want to admit guilt he is not requesting a waiver!!

Reality Check on Dante Moore!!!

Dante Moore's Book

Indian express quoting agency sources reports on a new book on self help which is supposedly selling like hot cakes!!.
Re-education of Female
I was put off by the crass generalization and overt sexist tones of the book and wondered why will anybody read that thrash? I realize that press is reporting falsely. The book is languishing at the unknown depths in Amazon popularity rank .

I did a cross check on the fact presented by Indian Express. As per Indian express book is selling like hot cakes. Checked up on Amazon for the book. It had a rank of 39326 in the book section in popularity!!! Way way down the list. e.g. Even the relatively unknown books on computer programming books rank within 1000.

Indian Express editorial is going Trash of India way!!!.

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

I was reading through discussions on churumuri on Sam Manekshaw’s role in Indian history in light of Karan Thapar’s insinuations in the light of Gohar’s book.

For those who think light of India’s only decisive victory, please read the surrender document signed by Pakistan shown below.

Nothing illustrates the heights achieved under Sam’s tutelage. Sam India owes its freedom to you!!!

Aarushi murder: UP top cops transferred

June 1, 2008 by Narayana

UP CM has transferred the bungling Noida cops. I fail to understand how transfer can be construed as punishment. Aren’t civil servants paid the same at every location they work? So where is the punishment here?
Doesn’t IG need to demoted to havildar rank as he does not have basic courtesy of respecting a citizen who is paying for IG’s plush comforts.
Doesn’t SSP kneel down before the Noida public and beg pardon?
Why did cops behave so rudely and unprofessionally? Shouldn’t some cops lose their uniforms? Where is the justice here? India is only country where transfers are touted as punishment.
Does this mean that system in India intrinsically believes that some postings are more lucrative than others? Is it not pandering to corruption?
Where will these bungling buffoons of noida police be posted now? In some jumri talaiyya?
If so, why are Jumri talaiyyans getting punished?
No transfer will solve this. Sack the police. They have been given enough opportunities. Nithari was an eye opener. Double murder shut the case. Police are inept, lazy and super arrogant. Sack them all.

And we all fall down!!!

June 1, 2008 by Narayana

Defense Minister AK Anthony lost consciousness during an official ceremony at NDA Khadakwasla. It is possible that minister suffered a heat stroke in the Indian Summer. What is interesting here is the picture.
Does this mean that NDA with all its self anointed glory does not have a stretcher!!!?

Does this mean that first response during the medical emergencies is “Clutch and Carry” ?

What can noida police do?

June 1, 2008 by Narayana

Noida police sank to lower levels with the farce they perpetrated with Aarushi murder investigation.

I did not see any mainstream media taking the police to task.

TOI tried to steal the show by starting an online appeal and also taking a grand stand that it would not publish the text of the email Aarushi wrote to her parents.

Hindustan times has an article by vir sanghvi which rightly points out that Police chief of Noida needs a professional help. I guess Vir sanghvi is right in suggesting that Noida police chief is a pervert. Police can no longer remain insular. Media has exposed what goes on in the farce called Indian police. An office of IGP rank can believe that murder investigations are over as and when police can cook up a motive speaks of the rot that has set in. Time to bow out IG sir, You have to go home now!!!

Speaking of culpability, a picture on this week’s time caught my attention. After the earthquake, Chinese communist party leader is shown kneeling in front of parents who lost their kids to seek their pardon that government could not save their kids. Does any one in Indian Police has such sensibility? We see same dumb cops either firing off their mouths (Aarushi murder) or their guns (Gujjar Demonstration) Time to disband Indian Police has come.
Do you think is it not the time?

The second photograph was taken on 1st Jun 2008, after Mohali’s loss to Chennai.

Did Preeti add years to her age between those three days!!!

The best breeds of horses inside or outside Arabia are out on their last leg of the race.

This leg will be run inside the closed doors, around bulky suitcases.

A little gallop for the winning horse will be a giant leap for the pudari kind?

Which three horses will sprint their way to bank? Do you have a choice?

Devegowdara baduku

May 27, 2008 by Narayana

The great machiavelli of Karnataka politics lost his panche , shalu and chaddi en masse.

On May 26, the day after the deluge and delusion, the lone star guarding the devegowda’s kote was man’s best friend.

Do you think Devegowda will ditch his best buddy too?
